Uchimusume : The End

Reading the end of Uchimusume LN made me realize one thing.

No lolis, last forever

Last time,  I talked about a lot of things Uchimusme related. And now, after the anime has ended I’m sure instead of answers, you got more questions instead. Mostly about just what’s happened after it. And even though the anime itself is quite popular, I doubt it would ever get a second season.

Also, let’s face it. The production value isn’t even that high. Probably because the studio didn’t see any prospect in it. Most likely, 2 million views on museasia don’t sound that exciting to them either.

By the way, the editor has been trying so hard to keep the series running. But he can’t prolong the eventual end much further than it already is. Because well. . . . the story is already concluded. There's a new additional volume after the ending, but it only consists of tales when Latina still smol. No new big addition to the plot.

And I personally don't want it to be turning into some complicated mess and stay as-is.

Being small, short, and cute is simply the best. Just like a loli.

So here we are. At the final. But before talking about the final, let’s review just how far we have come up to this point.

Volume 1 to 2 is about how Dale and Latina meet and how their lives changed a lot after it happened. How both of them go into a little journey and meet various people while making their relationship even getting closer.

Volume 2 to 4 is about how Latina finally mustered all of her courage to confess to the person who always treats her like a daughter. Making Dale finally realizes that she isn’t his child while making him also realize that he also doesn’t want her to be with someone else. Changing their relationship forever.

And then, Volume 5 to 6 is about how they finally accepted each other's feelings and decided to move forward together. Only for a calamity to strike their newly founded romantic relationship.

I have spoiled quite a lot of plotlines in the previous video, which covers almost up to the 7th volume. A volume where everything has been pretty much settled. Dale has slain all the dangerous demon lords, Latina has been reunited with her sister, and we even get to know how her parents meet, fall with each other, and then got separated together with their children.

So now, let’s begin.

From the cover alone the theme of this volume is already pretty obvious. It was about the preparation of Latina’s marriage. But, before the day we all feel like weeping in the corner. There’s still a lot to do.

First, they need to create a diplomatic relationship between Latina's former home "Vesallio" and her current home "Labland" so she can travel easily. Latina is Demon, so no matter how friendly the people around her. . . . . no! Precisely because the people around her are very kind to her it's kinda impossible for her to keep living among humans. A demon has a far longer lifespan than humans so seeing them born, grow, become adult, getting older, and then die multiple times is going to be too sad of experience. Hence, both her and Dale plan to move to her former home probably after people like Kenneth, Rita, and Chloe & co depart to the next world.

In order for them to be able to travel freely, they need the 2 nations to be on a friendly term.

The king invites Chryso who is both the de facto leader of Vassalio, 7th demon lord, and Latina's twin sister.

In this part, Latina is officially is being introduced to the wider world too. People used to only see her as a mythical figure but now her position as the sister as the Demon country and the Hero's partner is made clear.

Latina, who is growing up as a commoner has some trouble interacting with the nobles and other important people around her. But everything ended fine.

After the event at the royal capital, finally Latina able to go home and expecting her quiet lifestyle to come back. But. . . . without her knowing, her best friend. Chloe is going to get married soon.

With who? as you guessed it, she is going to marry Rudy. . . . .'s friend.

Yep, poor boi hasn't found his new love after getting rejected by Latina years ago. I wonder if his feeling when attending his friend's wedding party is like my feeling when I attend my friend's marriage ceremony too.

Iwantodie. . . .

After her best friend's marriage, it's time for her to prepare for her own marriage. But of course, everything isn't going to be such a simple matter.

The regular of Dancing ocelot kidnap Latina. . or more precisely, she is going along with their prank. Dale needs to get her but every those veteran old man, young men, and bois around Latina's age is getting in his way. Making it's pretty much a 'Let's slug Dale at least once' before he takes Latina forever.

It turned out the prank is just a way for those old guys to hide preparation for their favorite daughter ceremony. Dale's grandmother made a backstage deal so his son doesn't need to go back to Tislow (avoiding the hassle of traveling and following Dale's family tradition) while also sent material for Latina's wedding dress.

Annnnnnd. . . . . .

Feels old yet?

Then. . .

IT'S HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEE

IWANTODIEEEE. . . .

Well, after the wedding ceremony both of them immediately fly to Tislow. They literary fly to Tislow riding on the back of their fluffy friend. Which at the end become Kenneth daughter friends, too.

After that, thousands of years have passed and both of them got reincarnated. And now, Uchimusume becomes a cute romcom with Alabama plot in full swing. Making your heart goes flutter with both pleasure and. . .guilt! a lot of guilt!

WAIT! THAT'S NOT IT!

The story ended with Latina stumble upon a falling kid, which I presume is the kids of someone she knows. also based on the tale of how the kids got a charm. Which is being passed down generation after generation, a lot of time probably already passed. After that, she heals him and being called by the other kids from afar, which is held by a certain deplorable hero.

And with that, the story is concluded.

And now, let's just weep together while once again remembering. Just how far we have come.
