I wonder

I wonder

How long until Google decides to close up bloggers for good?

Blogger has become the choice of many people when they started doing. . . you know. Blogging. The tool has been there since before I even knew what the internet is. And in my highschool days, it was pretty much the number one platform and tool for your average guy to show their hobby and whatever topic they  are passionate about.

Or well, a place where you can finish the task your teacher gives you in their internet introduction lesson. While this blog has only existed since not long ago, I have been using this platform since almost fifteen years ago writing about tech for quite some time. Well, before I graduate and enter the workforce that is.

When I come back, I’m really surprised it hasn’t changed that much. Not only in terms of UI, but also functionality and all the janks too. Mann, the editor is absolutely fukken bad. The image uploader is now broken, It isn't really compatible with any 3rd party word processor. Heck, it’s not even really compatible with Google Docs. Pasting something from google docs would result in a broken piece of article. The formatting becomes a mess, the image becomes a tangled piece of asset, and you can’t really edit inside the provided post editor or shit would break the formatting even further.

Man, even adding that one image at the top is pain.

The only thing it can reliably accept is . . . plain text.

It also started to show its age in other parts. Many themes and templates are stuck in the past, even the one you get yourself would probably have something broken in it. Not to mention, It is also barely able to adapt to the new age of mobile devices.

Considering how outdated the platform has become, I’m not even sure if it’s still even being developed. And once again, considering their position where their main ads business is being threatened from the monopoly ruling. I kinda feel they would be in a “slashing budget” mood soon.

In the age of AI zero click wasteland (Refer to THIS) Blogging has become something people no longer really wanted to do. After all, your blog would be scrapped by countless AI companies anyway. There’s pretty much no incentive to do personal blogging anymore except. . . well. Maybe you just wanted to write, or. Maybe you just got kicked from some social media and have no more platform where you tell the world what you are thinking.

Talking about dying platform, There's also one other platform that is currently dying from lack of care. That is, AMINO. Last time I'm on it, I literally unable to even login. But that is topic for another time.
